Our members come to our gym for a number of reasons. They want to lose fat. They hope to gain muscle mass. They want to ready themselves for the summer season. They want to train for a specific sport. But, ultimately, they want to live longer, happier and healthier lives. In our experience we have found that no two members are alike.

Since joining OLAF, I think that I have made the most growth in being a better mom in many ways. I am doing something for myself that I enjoy -which is very important – a lot of moms don’t make time for themselves. I am becoming the healthiest version of me -physically and mentally- that I can be for my family. I am happy that I can keep up with my kids on the playground and in the pool. I am showing my three boys that women can be strong and beautiful – and that women can do the same things that men can.

Since starting at OLAF one of the biggest changes I have seen in myself is an increase in confidence, inside and outside the gym. One of the reasons I started at OLAF was because I wanted to challenge myself and push myself outside my comfort zone. As I get stronger and set new goals I am faced with new challenges but I face them with excitement now. Thanks to the coaches and the community at OLAF I have learned that hard work and the right attitude can really take you places!

My experience at OLAF has had a big impact on my day-to-day life. Aside from the obvious physical changes of getting stronger and feeling healthier, I have experienced positive but unexpected changes as well. When I encounter stressful situations in my everyday life, I find my level of determination and resolve to be much higher than it was before I started at OLAF. I often think back to especially difficult workouts (I’m looking at you Nancy!) and knowing that I survived all of those challenges despite how it felt at the time helps to put things in perspective. I know that no matter how hard a task may be, I will always push through it and be stronger for it.

I would say OLAF has helped me better understand that improving fitness is about consistency. No one is going to achieve all their goals in a month and anything that is will be fleeting. Eating well, sleeping well and training the right way need to be part of life. Fanatical commitment for a short period of time will not help you correct years of abuse or neglect in the other direction. Challenge yourself, sitting on the couch is easy.

I feel stronger than ever. I have confidence in my ability to lift and move things on a daily basis that I didn’t have 10 years ago. Each day at work, I feel energized, not only from my workout the day before, but in anticipation of that afternoon’s workout. It’s a personal challenge I feel I face and conquer on a regular basis. Among many things, OLAF has really helped me to recognize and address issues with my own limited flexibility and mobility. Before I started at OLAF I had hip and shoulder pain. My discomfort has been greatly reduced while my mobility has increased. The coaches have all helped me increase my strength and improve my cardio while monitoring my issues and giving me specific exercises to do on a daily basis. And as a result, I feel stronger, more prepared, and happier as I begin the aging process. This type of personal attention and concern for the whole client is one of the many reasons that OLAF stands out in a field of many.

Outside of the gym, I’ve seen many ways that OLAF has positively impacted my life. First and foremost is that my overall energy level and feeling of well being has increased. I’ve found that sometimes I’ll look back at a day or week and have been surprised how much stuff I got done. That comes in handy when the kids need help with homework late at night or need to go to a store, or want to do something fun. Secondly, working out does relieve stress. When I’ve had a bad day or have a lot on my mind, I always feel at least a little bit better after working out. And lastly, there are people who’ve commented that they’ve thought about trying to work out more because they’ve seen how it’s helped me. Hopefully, some of them have and they can further spread the desire to be healthier.
